When it comes to aviation, most people in Hamburg tend to think of Airbus. In fact, the industry is largely driven by smaller and medium-sized companies. The TV magazine “Hamburg is boarding” on the Hamburg 1 channel visited three of them: one of the businesses featured in this interesting programme was Treo – Laboratory for Environmental Simulation.
As an accredited test laboratory, we have for many years been supporting the aviation industry with individual test concepts for the development of market-ready products. This position means that we are already familiar with the components that will be used in tomorrow’s aircraft. The Hamburg 1 TV team asked us to share our special view of the industry.
The channel’s show “Hamburg is boarding” regularly examines the question of Hamburg’s growth as a key aviation industry centre. On the initiative of the Hamburg Aviation Association, the focus of the latest issue was on three hidden champions in the city: the aviation companies Scholz Mechanik and Synergeticon GmbH and, to our great pride, Treo.
For one day, the TV producers shadowed our test engineers and took a closer look at the specific requirements and challenges of the aviation industry. The programme provides an impression of the safety tests that aircraft components are subjected to before installation – and may help to alleviate any fears of flying some people may have. Above all the programme illustrates what an important role small and medium-sized enterprises play in a high-tech industry like aviation.
