Michael Westhagemann is committed to fostering a good relationship with Hamburg’s enterprises. The Senator for Economic Affairs regularly visits companies to gain insight into their skills and performance. This time, he visited Treo.
The Senator for Economic Affairs and Innovation revealed more than just a passing knowledge of technology during his visit to the Treo testing laboratory. When Laboratory Manager Till Schwermer explained why electromagnetic compatibility is an important aspect when testing e-bikes, the tech-savvy senator nodded in agreement. Despite being very familiar with the topic of EMC, he was still astonished at the effect that electromagnetic radiation can have on e-bikes. “I hadn’t considered that aspect”, he said when Till Schwermer described how radiation can affect the motor.
The senator came to visit the test laboratory on the invitation of the Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region. After a welcome round, Managing Directors Hanno Frömming and Thomas Kühl presented the company and a lively discussion quickly ensued, with Westhagemann showing himself very impressed that Treo can offer its customers all tests from a single source. The avid networker discovered many overlaps with other clusters and promised to set up contacts with other enterprises.
Then it was time to take a look at the lab. Westhagemann, a computer scientist who worked for Siemens for 25 years and has significant technical expertise, had the test stations explained to him in detail and even took his own photos. The shaker, on which an e-bike frame was tested “live” for vibrations, fascinated the politician, as did the climatic exposure cabinet and temperature chamber. After 90 minutes, the Senator for Economic Affairs took his leave, remarking that Treo, with its commitment and forward-looking ideas, is perfect proof of the strength of Hamburg’s economy.
